I am in my fourth year at NYU and am currently pursuing a B.A. in English and American Literature, in addition to a minor in Japanese. Considering both formal and informal job positions, I have 5 years of experience tutoring literature and related subjects.
In high school, I received a '5' in both AP Psychology, and AP English Literature and Composition. Since entering college, I have been fortunate enough to work for academic and non-profit organizations alike, including: a tutoring company entitled "One with NYU" (now partnering with Noodle Pros); Adler, Molly, Gurland and Associates (a speech pathology organization); NYU Stern School of Business, and, most recently, NYU America Reads and Counts. All of the above institutions have enabled me to work with children with academic and emotional challenges, college students from diverse backgrounds, and graduate students. I have also had the privilege of learning about business writing, gaining knowledge regarding how to tutor various age levels, and increasing my own writing capabilities.
Given my varied background, I am comfortable with handling and instructing various types of writing, including: business writing, resume composition, creative writing, screenwriting, grant writing, and academic research. I am a dedicated tutor who does her best to learn about her clients and use this knowledge to inform her lesson plans. I always encourage my clients to inform me if they feel a method is effective or not, or any strategies I could use to help improve their understanding. I prefer precision and accuracy over reaching a quick "answer", so I always strive to make my sessions as informational as possible. Currently, I am a member of NYU's Contemporary Literature society, as well as the literary community entitled "Literary Lights".
In addition to literature, I am also available to help with career advice, job seeking, psychology, introductory neuroscience, Japanese (at the elementary and intermediate level), and nutrition. I look forward to working with future clients and assisting them in achieving their goals whether it is an academic essay, or a grant proposal!
